Answers from the dog: Part 2

Question from the Owner: Why don't you listen to me?!?
Answer: There are lotsa reasons I don't answer or respond to ya, most of the time, I gots no Idear what you're saying. I don't speak the same language ya do, and ya don't speak mine (which includes lots of body language), so naturally there is a language barrier. You've only taught me certain words like sit, shake, down, outside, so when ya say "get outta the trash" I have no idea what that means. I know friends who were never taught the simple word "come" before, they get in lots of trouble for not listening, but no one ever told them what it entails.
We dogs can be quite a lot smarter than ya think we are too; just like some human children we aren't going to do something if we don't think it will benefit us in some way. You wouldn't work for free would ya?
If I said your name in an angry tone (not that I can) ya probably wouldn't listen to me, who wants to confront someone who is mad at them for unknown reasons. I may not always understand your words, but your tone of voice usually says it all.
Finally, I hang out around you ona daily basis, and sometimes you're on tha phone, watchin' TV or talking to the family. Guess I accidentally learnt that ya aren't always talkin' to me.
We're all just a bunch of dogs who just like humans have different personalities. There isn't always a 100% correct answer.

It captured me the most when you mentioned that dogs can be quite more intelligent. My friend wants to get his puppy trained. I should advise him to choose a puppy training program that is ideal for his pet.

My name is Kim. I've grown up in this beautiful place we call Marquette, MI. I have always been a lover of animals and my love for them has only grown stronger with age.  I love all animals from mice to cows, to pigs and frogs.  Of course as dogs are the ones living most closely among us they have become my passion. I have been in the dog business since 2009 with a focus on dog training since 2010 when I completed my career diploma in Dog Obedience Trainer/Instructor from Penn Foster Career School. I worked on building my knowledge and experience for the next 4 years until I sat for my first formal certification in 2014. In building of those credentials I continued with the skills portion in 2015 earning the titel Certified Professional Dog Trainer-Knowledge and Skills Assessed (CPDT-KSA)
My husband Rick and I have owned and operated TacoMo Dog Training since 2010 and are in the process of transitioning to TacoMo Dog Co. as we have officially added grooming as of 2022.
TacoMo was the recall word for our first 2 dogs Rico aka Taco, and Morzy aka Mo. We have since loved and lost both of them in 2020 and sadly a puppy in 2019. We now are loved by our current crazies Tiramisu aka Misu a Mini American Shepherd born 2019 and Goji and small Australian Shepherd born 2020.
We also have a daughter born in 2017 who is always keeping us on our toes. Find us on Facebook, Instagram and even Tiktok!
